About

Welcome.

I began running in 2003 shortly after my then wife and I split up.

My closest friend, Bill Britt clearly and unequivocally informed me, “Dude, you need to start running or something to reduce stress.”

Bill had been through what I was going through, and his words resonated with me.

So, I blame him for my addiction!

Running helped me get in touch with a side of me that at one cold, dark time in my life was slowly dying.  The side of me that loves the outdoors, and loves doing athletic things in the outdoors.

Humans are animals.  We evolved in the great outdoors.  Traversing huge distances was a survival requirement.  I believe running is as natural to a human as swimming is to a fish…

Bill’s words helped me embark on a journey that has rewarded me immeasurably.  It has taken me overseas to foreign lands, to the land where grizzly bears roam free.  It has exposed me to the ecstasy that comes from achieving a seemingly impossible feat, and to the pure unadulterated misery that occasionally comes during the pursuit of that goal.

This blog chronicles my obsession.

Enjoy, and feel free to register and get involved.
