Training for the Le Grizz Ultramarathon
Thursday, July 21st, 2005I’ve got the bug.
The high following the completion of Charlottesville has left me craving more.
I’m convinced I will never be a very fast runner, but I can go the extra mile :)
My goal for the summer has been to train for the 24th Le Grizz Ultramarathon being held October 8, 2005. http://www.cheetahherders.com/LeGrizz.html
The location: Spotted Bear, Montana.
I’m very excited about going back to Montana. Here’s a site with a few photos that will help you see why!

The runner’s knee that plagued me for 4 months is a thing of the past… Rigorous dedication to stretching my hamstrings, strengthening my quads, and watching my form has paid off.
My wrist is finally cured!
And now it’s down to running… And more running… And then putting my shoes back on and running some more.
One thing I’ve found very useful is “self massaging.”
Daily, and if possible twice-a-day, I’ll take some time to massage both of my legs from the thighs all the way down to my ankles.
This seems to have helped me recover from what was becoming progressively stiffer muscles in my calves.
I read an article on this in Runner’s World magazine or Trail Runner magazine.
It complements stretching nicely.
Also, I’ve recently purchased a heart rate monitor, and will write a few articles soon!
